Jadarian Price - Running Back - Notre Dame
1 - Play speed
2 - Movement tools
3- Through contact skillset
4 - Underrated skillset as a receiver
I wouldn’t qualify Price as a burner. Can separate on backers in a curvilinear fashion - good boundary rider who can weave his way through open areas without significant deceleration.
His combination of feel for space & curvilinear capabilities creates a lot of his explosives.
Price is a linear-driven mover who can chain together cuts in succession. Shows ability to consistently combine his chaining capabilities into power - effective use of acceleration skillset at 210lbs.
Above average creativity in open areas - can lull defenders to sleep & force overplays.
Similar movement tools to Chase Brown & Jordan Mason. Brown being the higher end of the performance ladder.
Like mentioned above, effectively chains acceleration into power principles through contact. Indirect contact can force leverage loss & abrupt deceleration patterns at times, but can regularly shred corners up the boundary.
Is combative when contact is direct - unshy of scrums & short yardage battles. Can utilize a straight arm to negate contact from smaller defenders.
My wonder is if these skills will deteriorate over time since he did rupture an Achilles in 22’ - something to monitor with him when medicals begin to come out.
Despite a rather lackluster career as a receiver out of the backfield, Price has the requisite qualities to be a valuable tertiary option in the receiving game.
More than serviceable as an outlet option who can run the intermediate RB tree - controls leverage well on angle & out routes with confident hands.
+ qualities as a potential screen receiver in terms of dissecting traffic & being on time/patient to landmarks - didn't do this often at ND, however he displays the between-the-ears traits necessary to be productive in this area.
There are certain times when you look at skill over production when translating aspects to the next level - Price & his skillset as a receiver is one of those.
